Life is Just a Bowl

The words “super bowl” have been mentioned quite a bit around the office recently. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for a non-football fan like myself, but it does come with one major downside. I now constantly find myself thinking about the contents of this oversized bowl. Is it filled to the brim with queso dip? Or maybe overflowing with assorted candies? The answer is irrelevant, because in the eyes of most of my coworkers, I’m committing a great sin.

Now, I know you’re thinking, “How can this dingus be so oblivious about the greatest American sporting event?” My answer to this question usually revolves around English being my second language and my inability to grasp common American customs. Unfortunately, this was not going to cut it, so I set out to become a Super Bowl expert.

Going for the Hail Mary

I only had a few days to prepare myself for Super Bowl XLIX, or Ex-licks as I will be calling it from here on out. I had to hit my research fast and hard. My first stop was obviously Super Bowl I, in which the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 35-10. Waddling through this information was thoroughly interesting, but I found myself wondering why the winner of this game is crowned the World Champion if only American teams participate. Guess the Toronto Argonauts and Hamburg Blue Devils couldn’t hack it.

Over a span of several hours, I was enlightened by information, such as the origin of the Vince Lombardi trophy and the two times the poorly-named Buffalo Bills went home broken-hearted after their consecutive losses to the Cowboys. In minutes, I found new heroes in Joe Namath and Rob Gronkowski, two prime examples of professional party boys. The information and footage was vast and, in almost no time at all, I was thoroughly prepared for the Ex-licks.

The Real MVP

Although I’m happy about becoming a Super Bowl expert, I can’t take all the credit. Had it not been for my internet connection, I’d still be completely unversed about this massive sporting event. Like me, your business or organization can benefit from the powers of the internet.
